Blog Post #2

Ever since elementary school, I have done assignments that requires Microsoft Word. Over the years, I have typed the majority of my essays on Microsoft Word. As a college student, I have taken notes on Microsoft words. By doing so, I have been able to record more information that my professor has provided. In addition, I have noticed that my teachers have used Microsoft Word to create their lesson plans, syllabus, and worksheets.  A teacher that I had in high school would always type up the expectations for each assignment via Microsoft Word and would hand it out to her students for clarity.
Living in a digital environment, I have always been aware of copyrighted material. There were many occasions for which my teachers explicitly told the class what materials were appropriate due to copyrighted issues. For a project that I did, I had to be very selective for which song I would incorporate in my PowerPoint to avoid legal issues, but my reasons are under the fair use guidelines.  As a teacher, I would thoroughly read all the fair use guidelines so my materials would not interfere with it and explain my students work that is copyrighted and how to not to credit for another individual’s work.

As a teenager, I only used twitter for the purpose of finding funny contexts. However, I learned that Twitter is an incredible tool for connecting with your students. I discovered that Twitter and other personal learning networks can be used to remind students of due dates, contact with students and parents faster, and take classroom time. There are numerous personal learning networks that has given teachers, students, and parents a tremendous advantage regarding contacting one another.
