At the sports psychology lab, I was exposed to numerous technologies that could be useful in the classroom. Many of the tools are beneficial for athletes, but as well as with students. One that caught my attention was the isenser. Three years ago, the isenser was this enormous device that weights around eight pounds. Now, the isenser is small and compacted, and you can attach it to your phone. The isenser would be beneficial in the school setting because it allows teachers to view what they missed.

Microsoft PowerPoint has changed the way we give presentations. A PowerPoint would be very useful if you are teaching an area of history PowerPoint can be used to target each level of the Bloom’s Taxonomy. For instance, you may give important facts and dates that the students should remember and understand through text or images. In addition, you may have information where the student can apply it to real world situation, such as the effects of a certain event. Student’s may analyze and evaluate the event in the context of what would have happened if it never occurred. Finally, students can create a group assignment or project from the information they have gathered.

A website that will allow anyone stay up-to-date with technology trends is Techcrunch. Techcrunch is a website where new technology is promoted and there are numerous of reviews that goes along with the device. Click here for the link.

Assistive technology is used for students who have a disability and needs assistance. For instance, the podcast refers to how a student who has a physical may use a text to speak software to read their material. Also, a braille printer would allow a blind student to read. From my experience, I have never witnessed a student use an assistive technology.  The only challenges I can picture with using an adaptive technology in class is how the student might fall behind if they are new with the technology

From working on the Web Page Design assignment, I have become more creative with my layout design. I enjoyed how I a lot of freedom of where to insert new material, however, I was not a fan of how I could not but more than one picture on the same row. With weebly, I could create a website that the guardians of my patients may use in order to stay up-to-date.

Through Diigo, I learned an innovative way to mark important parts of an article. Diigo would be great for the classroom because students may help one another by explaining why certain parts of a piece is important. Incorporating the suggestion of another individual’s thoughts into our work can tremendous change the results.

In Ms. Simon’s classroom page, she introduces how her students will find the lesson plan, through her website. She introduces where her AP, dual enrollment, and theater students may find any documents that will be needed to print out. In addition, she provides her email and phone extension if any parents need to contact her.  She is a teacher at Hialeah Senior High School and teaches 9^th grade- 12^th grade.

As a teacher, I can envision myself using numerous technology to enhance my responsibilities. For instance, I would use an evaluation rubric to effectively evaluate my student’s work. Also, it would benefit my student’s as well because they will be familiar as to what they are expected of from their assignment. In addition, I would use numerous Microsoft PowerPoint as a guide while exposing my student to new material.

At the technology sandbox, I was exposed to numerous devices that I could use in the classroom setting.  One of my favorite technology SMART table. I enjoyed how the material is durable and how two students can use it simultaneously. Since it is very expensive and would most likely only have one in my classroom, I would use the device as a reward for the student of the week. It is an engaging yet fun device.

Kahoot is a website for which anyone can create a game to test one's knowledge. This is a great opportunity for teachers to engage this students using this website because students enjoy a friendly competition. Teachers could give the winner a reward, thus making other students become more familiar with the material in order to win the next game. The kahoot i made is a short game that relate to Hispanic Heritage Month.

There are numerous Web 2.0 technologies, that even though they do not meet the ELA standards, they are extremely useful in the classroom. As mentioned in the podcast, students can share information among their peers through twitter and delicious. Instead of manually texting each classmate, the student is allowed to notify them of their beneficial discoveries in a simplistic manner. Honestly, I could not find a web 2.0 tool that is useless because each tool will expose students to new materials and allows teacher to expand their professional development.

A web 2.0 tool that I would use if I was a teacher, is Wikispaces. This tool would allow me to update my students of any assignments or prospective events. In addition, wikispace is an easier method of contacting myself. A student may have a question regarding towards their assignments but are not familiarized with a quick contact method. However, being active on Wikispaces will allow me to answer any questions my students have. Click here to access Wikispace.

A technology advancement that will hold tremendous promise for education, is three- dimensional printing. 3D printing will change how teaches present certain material, since they will have a physical model to provide. This advancement is extremely beneficial to kinesthetic and visual learners, since they will be able to feel and see the material first-handed.

Honestly, twitter has never caught my attention. When I made my first twitter account, I was uncomfortable uploading quotes or just general statements relating to my personal life. Many of my peers are very social on twitter by displaying their beliefs and emotion, however, I prefer keeping such manners to myself. After creating an account for educational reasons, I was intrigued by how many interesting recent articles appeared. I am allowed to get myself posted on the very interesting articles. Twitter would be useful for me in the future if I followed visual impairment accounts, and being posted on how other visual rehabilitation therapist are treating their patients

The digital divide affects an individual’s confidence once they enter the work field. If a student has grown up in an environment surrounded by technology (student A), they will be more willing to explore a new software. However, if a student grew up in a rural environment, they will shy away from exploring technology (Student B).  For instance, if both students were introduced to a draw program (allow students to create digital images), student A would most likely know how to maneuver the system, while student B is a might lost. Student A has access to a draw program back at her home since she has a computer, while student B does not.

Evaluating a website is extremely important if you want to receive true information. Many should be aware of a website’s political stance, the author’s background, the website’s layout, and the domain if you want to receive relatable information. When I am conducting research for a paper, I am very cautious of the author’s creditability, the time when it was written, and the domain name. The factors that I just listed is important because you need credible information for your assignment, and many individuals have easily lied on the internet before.

                   After reading the ELA technology standards, I realized that I am prepared to teach “Use Multiple Sources.” I am capable of teaching this standard for the fact being that I have mastered this skill. I have written numerous essays for which I had to be very careful when it came to citing information so I would not encounter legal issues. A standard that I do not feel very comfortable is “Multimedia:” Literature. I believe that I would have to take courses that deals with analyzing multimedia elements to master this standard.

               As a teacher, I would like to us instant messaging(IM) with my students. Instant messaging would allow me to send daily reminders to my students and vice versa. Back in high school, a teacher of mine would use the app “Remind” to send us reminders of assignments and if we had any questions, we would receive a response soon via the app. With my students (ages 9-11), I would address the digital citizenship concepts. They need to be aware that even though you are not physically communicating with an individual, you are by a device. The way the portray themselves via the internet is a reflection of who they are and there are other individuals involved.

             At first, I was intimidated by the Newsletter assignment because I never had to anything creative on Microsoft words besides writing essay. From doing this assignment, I have learned how to add columns to any assignments done on word. I like how this effect allows multiple columns on a page. However, I disliked the moments where the banner would randomly move. This assignment taught me that it takes creativity to make an assignment aesthetically pleasing and it is a reflection of your dedication to your career.  This assignment is useful because in the future I will most likely send Newsletter to my patents to keep them updated.
